The São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport is located in the Guarulhos municipality of São Paulo. Opened in 1985, GRU is now the busiest airport in Latin America, ranked first in passenger traffic, aircraft operations and cargo transport in Brazil. It comprises 2 long runways and 2 passenger terminals.

In 2011, GRU serviced about 30 million passengers. The airport's full official name is "São Paulo/Guarulhos–Governador André Franco Montoro International Airport" after a former governor of São Paulo. The airport is notorious for delayed flights. In 2011, 25% of flights left 15 minutes or more behind schedule.
